How to call in CR
There are many ways of calling when you are in the Czech Republic. Choose your own.
Call with your own mobile phone
This means you use your own mobile phone (with the SIM card you use in the network of your operator in your home country) when calling from the Czech Republic. Be sure to have a roaming service activated before leaving your home country. In this case, you call as if you were at home, for the corresponding rate in your operator’s roaming pricelist.
Get a Czech prepaid SIM card
There are a number of mobile phone operators in the Czech Republic:
Most of them offer prepaid services. In this case, you get a SIM card that you insert into your mobile phone. A prepaid SIM card provides you with a local phone number, which enables you to call for less than you would with your own mobile phone.
Public payphones
In the streets of Czech cities and even villages you can find public payphones. In order to use most of them you need to have a prepaid phone card. Some public payphones accept Czech coins or Euros.
Fixed line
If you need to make a call, but don’t have a mobile handy, simply use any fixed line – at a hotel reception desk, a post office, or anywhere else. Just make sure to find out the rate from the owner of the fixed line before you call – this may differ based on the owner of the phone and the service provider.
And if you need any number or any help while in the Czech Republic, call 1188!
